Rosa Mexicano, DTLA

In LA Dining by Christopher Dela Cruz

RosaMexicana (3)There’s something to say about a restaurant that offers pure authentic Mexican food in a fine dining setting. Rosa Mexicano has surpassed all expectations when it comes to being a Mexican restaurant. From the environment, the staff, and obviously the food, Rosa Mexicano gives you a tasteful delicious experience you are sure to remember. Rosa Mexicano has locations in various states throughout the US and Internationally in Dubai and Puerto Rico.

Josefina Howard is the founder of Rosa Mexicano and one day while on her way to visit a textile mill in Toluca, Josefina saw a village painted entirely pink. The pink village shined against the whole landscape and that was the moment that inspired the founder, to start her own business called Rosa Mexicano.

One thing we learned about Rosa Mexicano that makes them such a unique restaurant is their partnership with The Orphaned Starfish Foundation. They create lasting change in the lives of orphans throughout Latin America, Caribbean and Africa by helping them with their vocational skills. They partnered up with the organization to create a program for aspiring chefs and restaurateurs.

When you think of Mexican food you automatically think of having chips and guacamole. The guacamole that they make is made directly in front of you out of pure avocadoes. The authenticity of the guacamole is undeniable and has a freshness about it when it is cut, mixed, and for your eyes to see. The aroma, the taste, and the education you receive from the staff really gives you a different experience.

RosaMexicana (2)If it is your first time visiting Rosa Mexicano do not be afraid to ask questions about their menu and the history of their entrees. What we found enticing was how well educated the staff was about the food, menu and story of Rosa Mexicano.

There is nothing like an authentic Mexican meal without a margarita. The margarita selection here is perfection, no matter what you pick you will not be disappointed. They are known for their Frozen Pomegranate Margarita, which was their signature cocktail since 1984 made with blanco tequila, triple sec, pomegranate and lime. A few favorites that we were able to taste was the La Unica, which is their Cadillac margarita and the Chile Mango Margarita.

It’s hard to decide what to eat at the establishment, purely because everything is so delicious. Before sitting down at your table your mouth will be salivating from the aroma in the air. You feel a warm welcome and once your plate hits the table, be sure to enjoy every bite and really utilize your palate to taste every fresh ingredient.

Rosa Mexicano is an experience to enjoy as a whole. Whether for a date night or family dinner, this is the perfect place to get a taste of Mexico in the heart of your hometown.
