Bell staff in alpine-inspired uniforms assist with luggage while your car is whisked away to valet, allowing you to enter stress-free into the towering lodge-style lobby, complete with a roaring fireplace, soaring timber ceilings, and oversized windows that frame breathtaking mountain views.

Check-in is smooth and welcoming, and for pet parents like us, it’s heartwarming to see the staff greet our pups by name, treats in hand. The Ritz-Carlton’s commitment to dog-friendly travel isn’t just a box checked, it’s an experience. Our furry companions were pampered with plush dog beds, gourmet treats, and even a welcome gift featuring a soft dog blanket and a squeaky toy each. They were just as spoiled as we were.

We had booked a couples massage, and from the moment we entered the softly lit suite, we felt a sense of total release. Expert therapists used a blend of pressure and aromatherapy oils to melt away muscle tension and rejuvenate travel-weary limbs. After the treatment, we lingered in the private relaxation room, sipping herbal tea, our robes wrapped around us like clouds.

The spa also features heated outdoor pools, eucalyptus steam rooms, and a serenity lounge with stunning mountain views. Whether you’re recovering from a day on the slopes or just want to treat yourself to a bit of bliss, this spa delivers on every level.

That evening, we embraced the crisp alpine air and ventured out for a Private Fireside Experience—a curated outdoor setting in the resort’s backyard, complete with Adirondack chairs, roaring fire pits, and warm blankets. Known as the “Spirit of the Sierras,” this signature experience weaves together storytelling, mixology, and a beautiful atmosphere.

We cozied up under the stars with a couple of the resort’s signature cocktails, including a warm, spiced mulled wine that was both festive and soothing. With each sip, the combination of cinnamon, clove, and red fruit seemed to wrap us in a deeper layer of warmth. Nearby, families toasted marshmallows, and couples sipped whiskey beneath string lights, all drawn together by the timeless allure of firelight in the cold. It’s moments like these—unplugged, uncomplicated, utterly magical—that define the essence of a true escape.

We woke the next day to sunshine streaming through our windows and paws tapping excitedly on the hardwood floor—our dogs ready for another day of alpine adventure. But first, breakfast.

Manzanita, the resort’s signature restaurant, serves elevated California cuisine with a mountain twist. The morning menu is both hearty and health-conscious, perfect for refueling before a day outdoors. We opted for the avocado toast, artfully presented on thick rustic bread and topped with heirloom tomatoes, chili flakes, and a perfectly poached egg. It was vibrant, filling, and a beautiful balance of creamy and crunchy. Alongside it, we ordered a build-your-own omelet packed with fresh vegetables and local cheese, served with crispy breakfast potatoes and toasted sourdough.

The service was impeccable—gracious and attentive without ever feeling intrusive—and the view from the floor-to-ceiling windows made every bite even more satisfying. Morning coffee never tasted so good.

What truly stood out during our stay was how seamlessly the property integrated our pups into the experience.
