Catamaran Resort & Spa, San Diego

The Catamaran Resort & Spa is one of the most unique hotels that San Diego has to offer. This 312 room, tropical-themed resort is just miles from several attractions, including Balboa Park, SeaWorld, the San Diego Zoo, and the historic old town.

This resort was established in 1958, originally the summer home of the Scripps family. After being sold in 1955, William D. Evans purchased it and began construction of the Catamaran Resort & Spa.

The Catamaran offers a variety of water sports including sailboats, kayaks and paddleboards as well as an aquatic park. It is also home to the only beachfront spa in San Diego, The Catamaran Spa. We had the pleasure of enjoying a Swedish massage which uses a traditional Western technique with soothing strokes to encourage circulation, stimulate the nervous system and induce natural relaxation. We also recommend the Classic Cleansing Facial. This European-style facial is great for skin that is in need of a little TLC.  The Catamaran spa also offers many additional treatments including wraps, water therapies and nail care.

Dining at Atoll Restaurant within the Catamaran resort is a must when visiting or staying at the property. It is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and won Best Sunday Brunch within the Mission Beach, Pacific Beach and Mission Bay communities.

The laidback vibe of the Catamaran Resort & Spa, combined with the fantastic spa, delicious meals and generous customer service makes this a perfect vacation destination.

Tip: Explore the resorts hidden gardens of over 1,000 types of eclectic plants and flowers, exotic birds, 100 varieties of palm trees and 30 types of hibiscus. Surround yourself with striking sunsets, the splendor of secluded sandy beaches, and the sights and sounds of nature all in one place.
