As any Angeleno knows, it’s not really summer until you’ve sat under the stars in the beautiful outdoor venue and let music wash over you. Opening June 14th with the 36th annual Playboy Jazz Festival and moving on through nearly every possible genre, this year’s Hollywood Bowl season is sure to be an exciting one.
Inductees into the Hall of Fame this year are Kristin Chenoweth, The Go-Go’s, and Pink Martini, who are all set to perform on June 21st for what is sure to be an unforgettable evening. Rubbing shoulders with beautiful celebs while benefiting the LA Phil, topped off with a fireworks display? Yes, please!
We sampled Patina Restaurant Group’s new menu and were quite pleased with the new season’s spread. Next time, we’ll skip bringing in our own picnic and instead arrange a feast from their extensive array of cuisines. Our favorites were the smoked salmon sushi, flat iron steak, and Staccato burger. It’s easy to order online, just be sure to do so at least a day ahead of time.
Visitors this year will see a few cosmetic changes to the Hollywood Bowl. For one, the bench seating is being replaced for the first time since 1981. Traditionalists need not fear; however, as the wood is sourced from the same place and will eventually age into the familiar gray we all know and love. What we’re looking forward to most is the new landscape lighting that will set off the natural beauty of the venue even at night.
See you at the Bowl!

Back for its 15th season, Patina continues the tradition of offering exceptional cuisine at the Los Angeles landmark. With over 17 unique food outlets, Chef and Founder Joachim Splichal, overseen by West Coast Culinary Director Gregg Wiele, provides offerings that capture Southern California summer flavors. The eclectic menu for the 2014 season shines the spotlight on new offerings at the Wine Bar, which launched in 2013, and the Box Seat service “Dining for Two” menus; in addition to full service alfresco steakhouse, gourmet picnic baskets, a sushi bar, family-style platters and international street food.
As the sun goes down and the lights go up at the Hollywood Bowl, one of LA’s most beloved summer traditions begins with the pre-concert dinner. PRG presents an array of culinary experiences from the gourmet Staccato pick up window to the full service dining experience of the delicious Rooftop Grill, savory a la carte options from Box Seat service, to the alfresco Wine Bar featuring curated wine, craft beer, shochu cocktails, small bites in addition to large plates. New to the Wine Bar is an updated cocktail list by PRG’s Lead West Coast Mixologist Paul Sanguinetti, including specialty shochu cocktails on tap and a curated sherry bar featuring four varietals for pre-concert sipping. For box-seat ticketholders, the new “Dining for Two” menu makes for a perfect casual yet gourmet culinary date. A visit to the outdoor music oasis would not be complete without a PRG gourmet picnic basket selection, providing easy access to picnic experiences for all concert attendees. Additionally, the Market Café provides freshly prepared rotisserie chicken, artisan cheeses and a wide selection of wine to add the finishing touches to any basket. Located on the west side of the Bowl, Market Place West offers authentic sushi at Nishi Sushi Bar, serving made to order specialty rolls, jyubako boxes and sushi platters. PRG has also launched a new online ordering site to simplify the process and reduce hassle prior to arrival. Guests can order at www.patinagroup.com/bowl.
