Tease your hair, rock out and sing in the aisle and headbang your way through each hit. This show is a winner and so much fun. With the inclusion of songs from the ’80s by bands like Styx, Journey, Bon Jovi and Poison there is no way you won’t get up and dance. The feel-good love story, set on the Los Angeles Sunset Strip in 1987, features Drew, a boy from South Detroit, and Sherrie, “just a small-town girl”, who dreams of making it in the big city.
The hilarious Rock of Ages brings audiences back to the era of big hair and even bigger bands with a soundtrack of 28 popular rock songs from the ’80s including “Every Rose Has Its Thorn,” “I Wanna Know What Love Is,” “Here I Go Again,” “Don’t Stop Believin’ ” and more. Rock of Ages has been nominated for five Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Direction of a Musical and Best Costume Design. It also received a Drama League nomination for Distinguished Production for a musical.
Carrie St. Louis and Justin Mortelliti (Sherrie and Drew) bring down the house with their stellar performance. Both of them with amazing voices and they play their roles perfectly. We met them backstage after the show and it is clear they love their jobs. As much as we loved Sherrie and Drew our favorite character was Lonny, played by Mark Shunock, he was over the top hilarious and really got the audience going.
Insider Tip: Keep the party going and grab a shot of Bourbon at the Bourbon Room after the show!
